USA CUSTOM BUILT SURFBOARDS
Our USA custom built surfboards, are of the finest quality you will find in world. Built by Master Builders Ricky Carroll of R&D Surfboards, and Kenny Briel of Savage Surfboards, both of which have built an incredible amount of hand shaped boards. They have mentored many shapers and run legitimate surfboard factories on the east coast, that employ local workers that raise families. This is a tradition that dates back to the 60's for both of them. Boards are then driven to select shops up and down the east coast where the same builders will discuss shapes and collect feedback from riders of their boards. While some of these boards are bought as wall hangers or art, most are used as amazing surf craft! At Primal Surf, we just like nice things in the surf world, so we cherry pick boards one at a time. BLACK ROSE "deviated septum" 9'5" / $1,390
The Deviated Septum is inspired by a 1967 Hansen Competitor, and is a more streamlined version of this iconic ’60s noserider. This model is complemented by a defined kick in the tail, and a generous amount of belly throughout the majority of the bottom of the board. While the outline is relatively parallel it pulls in towards the tail, which helps the board turn surprisingly well. We turned the rail on the nose up a little and added a slight nose concave that subtly transitions into the belly.
Works best in a variety of conditions from ankle high to overhead, great for beach breaks and points alike. The belly creates a smooth ride in clean or bumpy conditions. Combined with the slight nose concave, this board creates a generous amount of lift on the tip and tends to retain more hold in steeper sections.

The Black Rose "Fine Swine" works exceptionally well in long tight sections, especially point breaks. The hips help govern your speed and pull you back into the pocket, while the back half of the board retains enough width to give the rider a stable platform when walking and riding the front half of the board. The narrower nose lends the board to quicker turning capabilities and less hang ups in the pocket.”

DESCRIPTION: The Dark Horse is a classic nose-rider, wide and parallel with 50-50 rails and a functional amount of nose concave that transitions into a relatively flat bottom contour. The wide and full outline provide plenty of lift and stability on the nose

DONALD TAKAYAMA "DOUBLE ENDER" 9'9" / $1,660. ***SOLD***
The Donald Takayama Double Ender is a classic retro pintail nose-rider. Donald pulled this design from his repertoire in the early 50's and 60's. It is a classic retro design, glassed w/ volan cloth so weight stays true to the era from which it originated. So called the "Double Ender" because both the nose and tail are pulled in for speedy, overhead sections. Although this board can be ridden in any size waves, its full potential shines in waves that are bigger than waist high.
